Box Score Tigerville – A big first half for North Greenville set the tone as North Greenville powered past Young Harris 12 – 3 to start 1 – 0 for the first time since the 2018 season.
It was a big day for
Hayden Moffat, the game's leading scorer. Moffat scored four times in the opener, three of those consecutively in the first half, putting NGU up 4 – 0 at the time. He finished the day with seven total shots and also dished out an assist.
Luke Davis got the scoring started in the first period, with a goal less than five minutes in. Davis added a second goal later in the game. Moffat recorded the next three scores for the Crusaders, the third of which came early in the second period.
Nathan Bucey's goal with 8:43 left in the opening period and Moffat's fourth goal, which occurred less than a minute later extended the lead to 6 – 0. The Crusaders ended the first half with three unanswered scores to take a 9 – 1 lead in to half.
The Lions ended the shutout bid seconds later with their first score of the game. Young Harris' final two goals came late in the third period and with 10:30 in the fourth.
Three different players got in on the scoring in the second half for North Greenville including
Matt Heyden who scored on back-to-back opportunities, extending the lead seven goals.
Cam Webb cashed in his first goal of the season late in the fourth while
Alex Brooks capper gave NGU the 11 – goal victory.
Garrison Story earned his first win as a Crusader in the net, securing eight saves. He finished his first game with North Greenville with a 74-percent save percentage.
