North Greenville Advances to Semifinals with Big Win Over Young Harris

Tigerville – The Trailblazers opened fast and never looked back on Tuesday afternoon en route to a 23 – 10 win over Young Harris in the opening round of the Conference Carolinas Playoffs. 
 
North Greenville got halfway to 30 – goals in the first half. The Trailblazers score nine in the first quarter and ended the first half with eight goals to take a 17 – 9 lead into intermission. The game started with a flurry of goals from NGU which scored five unanswered to start the game. The Castle brothers, Caden and Connor scored three of those goals including back – to – back scores in less than 30 – seconds. Connor Castle added a second score of the game to extend NGU's early lead to 4 – 0. 
 
The Mountain Lions kept it close in the second quarter, pulling to within three of NGU with a 10 – 7 score. The Trailblazers answered with 11 of the next 13 goals including four more from the Castle Brothers and two goals from Steven Huls Jr. to put the visiting Young Harris in a 21 – 9 predicament with nine minutes left in the third. 
 
The scoring slowed after NGU took the 12 – goal advantage. Young Harris tacked on one in the third while NGU countered with two in the fourth from Ben Rachic and Jake Ridgway to cap the scoring. 
 
Steven Huls Jr. led North Greenville in scoring with six goals while Caden and Connor Castle both scored four times. Caden Castle added 10 – assists set a new single season record for points with 85. Matthew Desmond earned his first career playoff win in the net racking up nine saves.
