The North Greenville Crusaders fell in a sweep to the Tusculum Pioneers with final scores of 9-2 and 9-4 this afternoon in Greeneville, Tennessee. NGU took a lead in the 1st inning of the opening game when
Claire Gilmore hit an RBI double, but Tusculum would respond in the bottom of the inning with two runs. Starting pitcher
Bailey Pace would stay in for the 2nd inning but was unable to record an out as the Pioneers would score a total of five runs in the 2nd. Down 6-1, North Greenville would get on the board again with a run in the 5th thanks to a throwing error. TU would score an insurance run in the 6th. NGU posted two hits in the top of the 7th but was unable to get a run across, ending the game with a score of 9-2.
Emma Rogers took the mound to start game two but would only record two outs as Tusculum put up six runs in the bottom of the 1st.
Morgan Hatchell would go the rest of the way, but the Pioneers would get three additional runs in the bottom of the 2nd to take a 9-0 lead.
Brianna McRae put NGU on the board with a solo shot, her third home run of the season. In the next inning, she would also draw a bases loaded walk to bring in another run. The Crusaders didn't go down without a fight in the 7th as
Claire Gilmore would hit a two-run home run.
Emma Rogers ultimately took the loss.
