Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Crusaders were victorious in their opening home game of the 2022 season with a 5-2 win against the Royals of Queens University of Charlotte this afternoon at Ray & Bea Dillard Field. NGU took the lead in the bottom of the 2nd and never gave up the lead. A total of fourteen pitchers between the two teams took the mound with eleven pitching at least one full inning. The Crusaders put up a total of five runs on eight hits and eight walks. North Greenville took the lead with a run in the 2nd inning.
Marek Chlup added two runs with a two RBI single in the bottom of the 3rd. The game was clean sailing for the Crusaders until the top of the 6th when the Royals hit a two run home run to cut the lead down to a run. However, NGU would respond right back with a home run by
Jordan Holladay and a sacrifice fly by
Cory Bivins. The final three innings would go scoreless with
Tristen Hudson pitching the final inning to earn the save.
Noah Ingle was the winning pitcher.
