NGU Falls Just Short in Shootout With Francis Marion

The North Greenville Crusaders put up one of its highest point total of the season but ultimately came up just short in a high-scoring matchup with the Patriots of Francis Marion University in Florence, South Carolina. NGU posted a solid .493 field goal percentage but were simply unable to stop the high-scoring Patriot offense that included a historical performance by Jonah Pierce who went twelve for twelve from the field. The Crusaders led by as much as thirteen in the 1st half and went on to take a seven point lead into halftime. However, a jump shot by Draylan Burton was all that NGU would put up in the first four and a half minutes of the second half, allowing FMU to jump out to a four point lead. After the lead changed teams several times, the Patriots continued to carry the momentum, eventually taking a nine point lead. North Greenville would then score seven straight to cut the deficit down to two, and from there the game became a barn burner. Tied with just seconds remaining, Francis Marion would close out the game with a final three pointer to escape with the victory.
