NGU Comes up Short Against Belmont Abbey in Low-Scoring Affair

Tigerville, SC - North Greenville came up short against Belmont Abbey in the Battle of the Crusaders in a low-scoring contest with a final score of 59-47 this afternoon at Hayes Gymnasium. The two teams struggled overall from the field, especially from three point range with NGU shooting just 17.4 percent and Belmont Abbey finishing 20.6 percent from behind the arc. In a closely-contested first half, the two teams would finish with nearly identical shot percentages as BAC would barely lead in overall field goal percentage at 28.1 percent and taking a three point lead into halftime. An ice cold start for Belmont Abbey in the second half would be capitalized on by North Greenville, who would jump out to a five point lead with eight straight points. However, Belmont Abbey would eventually heat up, and would on to hold a double-digit lead to close things out. NGU would struggle from three point range, going 0-10 in the second half.

Key Stat: Second Chance Points - Belmont Abbey was able to take advantage of ten offensive rebounds as they would lead in second chance points 18-3.
