NGU Bounces Back With Sweep of King

Tigerville, SC - North Greenville came through with a big victory against the defending Conference Carolinas champions, sweeping the King Tornado 3-0 at Hayes Gymnasium. The match began with a competitive opening set, but that would prove to be the only one as the Crusaders would take sets two and three by a comfortable margain.

Recap
  • The match began with a highly-contested opening set that resulted in the two teams' highest attack percentages of the night with NGU recording a .412 percentage and the Tornado with a .308 percentage. Tied at 8-8, NGU was able to pull away temporarily with a 7-1 run, but the Tornado would fight right back with five straight points to pull back within one point. Ultimately, the Crusaders were able to hang onto the lead and take the first set 25-23.
  • Set two saw the lead switch several times before the Crusaders were able to control the set. King struggled throughout, committing thirteen attack errors for a negative attack percentage as North Greenville posted just two errors and a .259 percentage. A 6-0 run late in the set for NGU was more than enough as they would win the set 25-20.
  • After a competitive start to set three, a 6-1 run for the Crusaders gave them a 17-11 lead. Leading 19-13, NGU would end the set as well as the match with six straight points to easily take the final set 25-13.
Individual
  • Erin Allen led the night with thirteen kills. She also recorded four digs and a service ace.
  • Abigail Durham also hit double digits with eleven kills.
  • Whitley Kahler provided twelve digs and six assists.
