Bats Stay Hot in Doubleheader Win Against King

The North Greenville Crusaders began the weekend series against the Tornado of King University with 12-2 and 19-6 victories this afternoon in Bristol, Tennessee. NGU recorded 29 hits and drew 18 walks for the day for a total of 31 runs while allowing a total of just 8 runs off of 14 hits and 9 walks. Brady West led the charge, collecting five hits for the day while Josh Senter recorded 6 runs and 6 RBIs.

Recap
  • The Crusaders held a small yet comfortable lead throughout the majority of game one, taking a two run lead in the 2nd and adding a run to the board in the 4th. After King scored a run in the bottom of the 4th, NGU would put up two more runs to lead 5-1. King responded with a run in the bottom of the inning, but North Greenville would pull away for good in the top of the 7th as a triple and five walks would lead to seven runs. Jax Cash pitched a three up, three down bottom of the 7th to secure the win. Logan Chapman, who started the game, pitched five innings and earned the win.
  • It wouldn't take long for North Greenville to end any doubt in game two as a six run 2nd inning would be followed by a four run 3rd and 4th inning to put the Crusaders up 14-0. King was able to get on the board in the bottom of the 4th with three runs. NGU would get a run back in the 5th and score four insurance runs in the 7th. King would end the game with three runs in the bottom of the inning, but Matthew Dailey and Nate Barolet would limit the damage on the mound. Reece Fields started and earned the win.
Individual
  • Brady West went 5 for 8 at the plate with a double and a triple, 4 runs, and an RBI.
  • Josh Senter was 4 for 5 with a home run and a triple, 6 runs, and 6 RBIs.
  • Ethan Stringer also had a solid day, posting 4 hits with 2 doubles, 5 RBIs and 3 runs.
