NGU Sweeps King

Tigerville, SC - North Greenville ended a busy Tuesday afternoon with a 3-0 victory over the King Tornado at Hayes Gymnasium. With the win, the Crusaders now move to 7-2 overall and 5-2 in conference play and currently place 2nd in the Conference Carolinas standings. Jackson Gilbert led in kills with 16.

Recap
  • King began the opening set with a 5-0 run. However, North Greenville would storm back with a 9-3 run to take a one point lead. The set would remain tight until the Crusaders pulled away late in the set with a 6-2 run to win it 25-21.
  • Set 2 would begin with North Greenville being the team to lead 5-0. North Greenville would lead 14-9 before King would respond with a 5-1 run to cut the deficit to one point. Late in the set, King led by two with just one more point needed to take it, but the Crusaders would go on to score four in a row to end the set with a 26-24 win.
  • After a small lead by the Tornado to begin set 3, the Crusaders would fight back to take a four point lead. NGU would lead by as much as five in the set. King would put up one last fight late, but North Greenville would ultimately take the final set 25-22.

  • Jackson Gilbert led in kills with 16 while also posting 3 digs, 2 service aces, and 2 block assists.
