Senior Day a Success as Crusaders Complete Sweep of Salem

Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Crusaders put together a successful senior day with a 20-2 victory over the Tigers of Salem University this afternoon at Ray & Bea Dillard Field. With the win, NGU set a three-game series record with 58 total runs scored throughout the weekend. Ethan Stringer went 3 for 3 at the plate and went on to score five times.

Recap
  • The Crusaders would score the first run of the game in the bottom of the 1st when Marek Chlup hit an RBI single through the left side. After a rare scoreless inning, NGU would extend the lead in the 3rd with RBI singles by Ethan Stringer and Brady West as well as an RBI double by Marek Chlup. Four additional runs would score in the 4th including back-to-back home runs by John Michael Faile and Marek Chlup. Salem would get on the board in the top of the 5th by way of an RBI double. The Crusaders would respond in the bottom of the 6th with three runs including RBI singles by Marek Chlup and Brady West. North Greenville's big inning would come in the 7th as six runs would go on to score. After a solo shot by the Tigers in the 8th, NGU would get the run back and then some by way of a three-run home run by Tristen Hudson. Six pitchers would take the mound for North Greenville in the game. Starter Ethan Garner, who pitched a pre-determined three innings, earned the win.

  • Ethan Stringer was perfect at the plate, going 3-3 with 2 walks. He would come around to score after reaching base all 5 times.
  • Marek Chlup also was not retired at the plate, collecting 3 hits including a home run and a double and recording 4 RBIs.
  • John Michael Faile recorded 2 hits including a home run.
