Price and Bivins Hit Grand Slams In Doubleheader Sweep Against Southern Wesleyan

Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Crusaders had a highly-productive day on offense, winning both games of a doubleheader against the Warriors of Southern Wesleyan University with final scores of 25-1 and 10-3 this afternoon at Ray & Bea Dillard Field. After winning the opening game of the series yesterday, the Crusaders continued to fire on all cylinders, collecting a total of 31 hits in the doubleheader. The highlight of the day came when Dawson Price and Cory Bivins both hit grand slams in the 5th inning of game one. Zach Taglieri and Ethan Garner were the starting and winning pitchers for the day.

Recap
  • The Crusaders would get on the board early in the bottom of the 1st with RBI singles by Brady West and Doug Angeli. Ethan Stringer added a run in the bottom of the 2nd with an RBI single to left field. After a scoreless 3rd, North Greenville would blow the game open with a 6-run 4th inning that included 2-RBI triples by both Pat Moneith and Marek Chlup. Brady West would also triple in the inning to drive in a run. NGU would go on to have an even more productive 5th inning, scoring 9 runs including grand slams by Dawson Price and Cory Bivins. Six more runs would score in the bottom of the 6th including a two-run home run by Jake Girardi. The Warriors would end up getting on the board in the top of the 7th, but reliever JK Love would go on to record two straight outs to close the game.
  • NGU would once again score in the 1st to begin game two when Brady West hit an RBI single to center field. SWU tied things up with an RBI fielder's choice in the 3rd, but North Greenville was able to grab the lead back in the 4th with a six run inning, including a two-run home run by Brady West and a two-RBI single by Doug Angeli. Tristen Hudson would drive in a run in the 5th with a triple to right center. After Southern Wesleyan scored a run due to a wild pitch in the top of the 7th, the Crusaders responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning including an RBI single by Pat Monteith. The Warriors would score off a solo shot in the 8th, but this would go on to be the final run of the game.

  • Brady West went 4-7 for the day with 5 RBIs, 3 runs scored, a home run, and a double.
