NGU Takes Care of Business With Win at Lees-McRae

The North Greenville Crusaders took home a 3-0 victory over the Bobcats of Lees-McRae in Banner Elk, North Carolina. NGU proved to be strong on attacks, posting a .319 attack percentage compared to a .032 percentage for LMC. Jackson Gilbert and Diego Rosich both led the Crusaders with 7 kills each.

Recap
  • After trailing by a point early, NGU would come back with an 11-2 run to lead 14-7. Later on in the set, Lees-McRae would get a momentum swing, posting four of five points. However, the Crusaders would go on to take the opening set 25-16.
  • NGU made quick work of things, going on a five point run to begin set two. The two teams proved to be tightly contested for the majority of the set, but late in the set the Crusaders began to pull away, ultimately taking it 25-18.
  • North Greenville jumped out early in what would go on to become the final set, bulding up a 10-4 lead. From there, the two teams were unable to get a momentum swing on their side, allowing the Crusaders to hang on to a fairly comfortable lead for the entire set. NGU would go on to take the final set 25-17.
Individual
  • Jackson Gilbert tied for the team lead in kills, posting 7 along with 4 digs and 3 total blocks.
  • Diego Rosich would record seven kills as well in addition to 4 service aces and 4 digs.
  • Sergio Carrillo had another solid day at setter, posting 28 assists, 2 service aces, 2 digs, and a block assist.
