Tigerville, SC - NGU women's volleyball began its 2020-21 season with a 3-0 win over the Warriors of Southern Wesleyan University tonight at Hayes Gymnasium. The Warriors kept things close in the first two sets, but the final proved to be a non-issue for the Crusaders as they would cruise to a victory.
Kelli Davis led North Greenville in kills with twelve.

Recap
- Southern Wesleyan would surprise the Crusaders early on in set one as they would jump out to a 10-5 lead. From there, NGU would fight back with a 6-1 run including two service aces in a row by Whitley Kahler to take a one point lead. The two teams would exchange the lead several more times in the set, but the Crusaders were finally able to distance themselves by going on a 5-1 run. Down by four, the Warriors would put up a fight late in the set by scoring three straight, but kills by Paige Beisecker and Erin Allen would end the opening set with a 25-22 win for NGU.
- After SWU put up the first run of the second set, the Crusaders would respond with a dominant 8-1 run that included three kills by Kelli Davis and two service aces by Paige Beisecker. Southern Wesleyan would keep themselves within striking distance but couldn't quite close the gap enough as NGU would take a 25-22 set two win.
- NGU would put the third set to bed early, scoring the first six points and eventually jumping out to a 13-5 lead. The Warriors were able to score three in a row to close the deficit to five, but the Crusaders would then open it back up with a 7-2 run. After SWU scored three in a row yet again, North Greenville would end the set and the match scoring three of the final four points to take the final set 25-15.
Individual
- Kelli Davis led the Crusaders with 12 kills and 39 total attacks.
- Erin Allen also hit double digits in kills with 11. She also recorded 3 digs.
- Whitley Kahler led in digs with 19 while also providing 2 service aces.
