Crusaders Sweep Southern Wesleyan on Dig Pink Night

Tigerville, SC - North Greenville took care of business tonight at Hayes Gymnasium with a 3-0 sweep of the Southern Wesleyan Warriors on Dig Pink Night. It was an all-out impressive showing for the Crusaders, who ended the night with a strong .425 attack percentage. With the win, NGU is the first team in the West Division of the Conference Carolinas to reach the ten conference win mark.

Recap
  • The Crusaders would get things started with a 5-1 run to begin the match including two kills by Abigail Durham. After a 4-2 run by SWU, North Greenville completely took over the set, scoring 17 in a row. The Warriors finally stopped the bleeding with a kill, but an attack error gave the Crusaders the final point to easily take the opening set 25-6. The Crusaders posted seventeen kills and just two errors in the set for an impressive .625 attack percentage.
  • NGU would continue to play strong in the second set, recording sixteen kills and just three errors for a .520 percentage. Southern Wesleyan put up more of a fight, but the Crusaders were able to gradually pull away throughout the set with several small runs. A kill by Paige Beisecker would give NGU the second set 25-12.
  • Another solid start to the set would put the Crusaders ahead 8-3 early on in set three. A seven point run later on seemingly put the set on ice as NGU held an 18-7 lead. SWU would put up their best fight of the night including a 5-1 run, but Beisecker once again posted the final kill to take set three 25-17.
Individual
  • Erin Allen led the way with sixteen kills. She also provided six digs and committed just one attack error.
  • Paige Beisecker hit double digits with ten kills. Defensively, she recorded four block assists and four digs.
  • Catherine Lant made the most of her limited action, providing three block assists.

  • NGU will face the Emmanuel Lions on Thursday, October 28th in Franklin Springs, Georgia.
