Box Score Jacksonville, FL – North Greenville fell to 0-2 on the season Saturday after a 19-15 loss to Lynn University.
The Crusaders scored the first three goals of the game to take an early lead. Thomas Cecere scored a pair while Austin Zumbado added a third to make it 3-0 in favor of NGU with 4:33 left in the first quarter. Cecere tallied the hattrick before the end of the first to answer a pair of Lynn goals.
Cecere and Zombado scored once more each in the second quarter but Lynn scored five times in the frame to carry a 7-6 lead into intermission. Thomas Cecere finished the day with a game-high six scores while Zumbado added four goals and a pair of assists.
Six goals in the third period put the Crusaders back on top. Blake Thompson and Collin Courtney got in on the action this time making it 10-8 in favor of the Crusaders. NGU scored the first three goals of the third and made it 9-7 before Lynn added its first score of the second half.
North Greenville led by one goal as the game entered the fourth quarter before Lynn took over. Four unanswered scores put them ahead of North Greenville 15-12 10:42 left. The Crusaders cut the deficit to just two goals on the heels of Cecere goal but the Knights countered with a pair of their own, extending the lead to four.
North Greenville lacked answers down the stretch. The Knights scored four more goals in the final nine minutes and held the Crusaders to just three. An 8-3 fourth quarter proved the difference in the outcome as the Kings edged NGU.
Gunnar Wilson scored twice in the four-quarter contest while Derrick Shealy also added a goal. Shealy had a pair of assists in the effort. Defensively Corey Long led the team with four grounders while Braeden Dixon picked up three. Chris Wieckhorst led the team with three caused turnovers. Dixon also added 20-saves in net.
The Crusaders travel to Hartsville on February 14th to take on Coker College at 6 pm.
