Box Score The North Greenville Crusaders topped the Limestone Saints 70-69 in Gaffney, South Carolina. With the win, NGU has now swept the Saints in their two meetings this season. The matchup marks the final between the two foes as Limestone will bow out of the Conference Carolinas in the 2020-21 academic year. DJ Brooks had a big game, scoring 22 points and 8 rebounds.
North Greenville held a tight lead through the first four minutes of the opening half. Tied at 7-7, a 10-2 run allowed the Crusaders to jump out to an eight point lead. Limestone would eventually respond, eventually tying the game at 29-29. Several more ties would follow to close out the half, with a fast break by LC to make the score at the half 35-33 in favor of Limestone.
LC would be to team to hold a tight lead in the first few minutes of the second half. That would come to an end when a 7-2 run put the Crusaders up 47-43. Trailing 56-53 with just under ten minutes remaining, Limestone would come to life with a 10-0 run to lead by seven. NGU would continue to fight, but trailed by two with twenty seconds left in the game. After a missed free throw by Limestone, Jacob Redding would capitalize with a huge three pointer to give North Greenville a one point lead. LC would put up a last second shot, but Joe Conley came through with a blocked shot to secure the win.
NGU will return to Tigerville for a three game home stretch, starting on Tuesday, January 28th against the Erskine Flying Fleet.
