North Greenville Continues to Build Momentum With Win Over Southern Wesleyan

North Greenville continues to build momentum late in the season with a 66-61 victory over the Southern Wesleyan Warriors in Central, SC. With the victory, NGU has now won three of the last four games and still has a chance to make the Conference Carolinas Tournament at the end of the regular season. Caleb Arrington led the Crusaders in scoring with 17 points.

1st Half

NGU stuggled early on, falling behind 9-2 less than five minutes into the half. However, North Greenville then responded with an 8-0 run including two layups by Roderick Howell to cut the deficit to a point. A three-pointer by Ryan Mobley gave the Crusaders their first lead since leading 2-0. Later tied 16-16, SWU went on an 8-0 run of their own to put the Warriors back up. The Crusaders responded again with a 7-0 run with Mobley scoring four of those points and Caleb Arrington scoring the other three. With the half coming to an end, SWU lead by one point going into halftime. NGU shot 41.7% from the field with Mobley leading in points with nine.

2nd Half

Southern Wesleyan entered the second half on a mission, leading off the half with a 10-0 run to take an eleven point lead. The Crusaders would spend the next several minutes fighting to close the gap, and finally would with ten minutes remaining by going on a 12-4 run. With four and a half minutes remaining in the game, a layup by Mobley tied the game at 58-58. From there, NGU would take care of business by ending the game on an 8-3 run to take the win. Caleb Arrington put together quite a performance in the second half with twelve points.

Individual

Caleb Arrington recorded 17 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 steals.

Ryan Mobley scored 14 points, and also posted 4 rebounds, 2 assists, a steal, and a block.

Daniel Burchette put up 12 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, and a steal.

NGU will take on the King Tornado for Senior Night on Saturday, February 16th in Tigerville.
