NGU Drops Midweek Contest to Mars Hill

The North Greenville Crusaders fell to the Mars Hill Lions 78-65 in Mars Hill, North Carolina. DJ Brooks posted a double-double and scored a team-high 16 points. Four different Crusaders hit double digits in points.

1st Half

NGU was able to get off to a fast start with a 12-5 run. The Lions would come back to tie the game several times over the next several minutes until a three-pointer with 7:05 remaining in the half gave MHU its first lead. However, North Greenville put together a 9-5 run to end the half with a 31-30 lead. NGU shot a respectable 41.2% from the field. Kovi Tate led the Crusaders in points for the half with ten.

2nd Half

In a half with strong offense on both teams, a 51.7 shooting percentage by Mars Hill allowed them to pull away throughout the half. With around ten minutes remaining, Mars Hill put the game away with a 17-5 run. The game would end with the final score of 78-65 in favor of Mars Hill. NGU improved in the second half with a 45.8 field goal percentage.

Individual

DJ Brooks recorded a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds.

Roderick Howell put up 15 points and 5 rebounds.

Kovi Tate put together another strong performance with 14 points and 6 rebounds.

Up next for the Crusaders is a trip to Greenville to take on the Furman Paladins in an exhibition game on Thursday, November 15th.
