Tigerville, S.C.—Three players scored in double figures in
Hayes Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon leading the Crusaders to a 71-66 win over
Young Harris College.
The Crusaders jumped out to a 4-0 lead to start the game but
the final 18 minumtes of the first half were controlled By Young Harris. The
Mountain Lions led by as many as 8 points during the first 20 minutes of play.
NGU finished the half on a 15-10 run. Rashmi Vanhook closed the half for the
Crusaders with a layup and a foul to tie the game at 32 heading into
intermission.
North Greenville carried the momentum into the second half
taking advantage of spotty Young Harris shooting. With the game still in doubt,
the Crusaders went on a 10 minute, 18-11 run. The Mountain Lions soon made a
run of their own cutting the NGU lead to two with 33 seconds left.
Brooks Walz put the Crusaders up by four points after two
free throws with 26 seconds left. NGU was able to put the game on ice after a
two made free throws from Karly Stache stemming from a Young Harris Technical
foul.
Offensively the Crusaders were led by Christina Carlis and
Karly Stache who both had 14 points. Krisceda Cotton added 11 points to the
total. Cotton added 10 rebounds as well giving her a double-double.
The win improves coach Arledges Squad to 9-11 on the season with
five games left. The Crusaders will travel to Bristol, Tennessee on February 8th
for a 6pm matchup with King College.
