Tigerville, S.C.—The Lady Crusaders Basketball team erased a
double digit deficit for the third time in as many games on Monday night on
their way to a 75-63 win over Southern Wesleyan University, advancing to the
finals of the NCCAA South Regional Tournament Championship game.
North Greenville started the game on a 4-0 run and held the
lead until the 13:17 mark of the first half. Southern Wesleyan then took over
outscoring NGU 27-11 during the final 12 minutes of the half. The Crusaders
once again found themselves down at half, this time by 16 points.
Jayne Arledge and crew once again reached down into their
bag of tricks in the second half. NGU opened the half on a ten-minute, 29-7 run
to take the lead. The Crusaders would not look back. The Crusaders shot 63.3%
from the field in the second half, scoring 54 points on their way to the 12
point win over the Warriors.
North Greenville’s offensive outburst was led by Karly
Stache who scored 14 points and was 2-5 from three point range. Christina
Carlis added 13 points, while Anjelica Wilcox added 10 points and two blocked
shots. Erin Gray led the team with eight rebounds while also adding two blocks.
With the win over SWU, the Lady Crusaders are one win away
from defending their Regional Title and punching a ticket to the National
Tournament for the second year in a row. The Team will play for the right to
represent North Greenville in Indiana Wednesday night at 7pm in Hayes
Gymnasium. Tipoff for the Championship game will be at 7pm.
