Tigerville, S.C.—The North Greenville women’s basketball team improved to 3-1 on the season for the second time in four years Tuesday night after an 88-77 win over Southern Wesleyan.

Krisceda Cotton led the offensive charge for NGU scoring 29 points while collecting 9 rebounds. It was her second straight 20-point performance. Karly Stache also had her best game thus far with a 20-point performance. Cotton was 11-18 from the field and 7-9 from the charity stripe.

The Crusaders led by as many as 11 points in the first half but the Warriors cut NGU’s lead to 4 before halftime. Both teams hovered around 40% shooting in the first period of play. The Crusaders shot 47% while SWU shot 42%.

In the second half, the Crusaders and warriors swapped the lead five times. No team had a lead bigger than four points until the final minutes of the game.

With 4:47 left in the game, the Crusaders pulled ahead for good with a Karly Stache three-point play, which put NGU 74-71. The Crusaders went on a 14-6 run to close out the game.

The Crusader defense once again had a solid night on the court forcing 20 Warrior turnovers. North Greenville also outrebounded SWU 44-32.

After a 2-0 performance in the NCCAA Classic, the Crusaders will take a 7 day break before returning to the court for a November 29, matchup with Belmont Abbey. The two teams, who share the name Crusaders, will tipoff at 5:30pm in Belmont, North Carolina.
