Spartanburg, S.C.—The North Greenville Volleyball team
continued its hot hitting against Converse College as the Crusaders rallied
past the Valkyries 3-2 extending their winning streak to four games.
The win over Converse evened NGU’s season record at 10-10
while also giving the Crusaders their second conference win of the season. NGU
struggled offensively during the early week tilt boasting just a .150 hitting
percentage. The Crusaders tallied 57 kills on 173 attempts. Converse had just
48 kills in 158 attempts.
Rebekah Mayes was the leading scorer for North Greenville
tallying 22 kills, Kaitlyn Pierce was close behind with 17 kills. Pierce led
the team in hitting percentage with a .394 mark. Abigail Frame continued her
solid play at the setter position posting a season high 54 assists. Senior
Kaitlyn Harris was the center piece of the defense chalking 23 digs. Kendra
Meek had a strong game defensively as well with 19 digs.
The Crusaders are now 2-6 in Conference Carolinas play with just
over a month left in the 2011 season. They will look to add a third conference
win on Friday with a 7pm tilt with Limestone College.
