Tigerville, S.C.—The North Greenville Lady Crusaders added
another “W” to the win column Wednesday night earning a 2 58-56 point win over
future Conference Carolinas’ rival King College.
The Crusaders started the game hot, racing out to a
nine-point lead ten minutes into the first twenty minutes of play. The
Tornadoes fought back however pulling to within two points before the
intermission.
King College picked up the pace in the second half grabbing
the lead five minutes into the second half. The Tornadoes led by as many as
eight points. With six minutes left the Crusaders began chipping away and with
1:20 left in the game two Karly Stache free throws tied the game at 56.
The Crusaders regained the lead with just six seconds
remaining after Jr. Guard Krisceda Cotton drained two free throws. With the
final seconds waning, King pushed the ball the length of the court, but a last
second layup failed to draw iron as time expired.
Karly Stache
led the charge for NGU as she posted 16 points and was 4 of 5 from the three
point arch. Christina Carlis also had a solid game with 14 points while
Krisceda Cotton also scored in double digits with ten points.
The win over the Tornadoes puts North Greenville at 5-9 on
the season with a game against Hiawassee College on Saturday. The tip for the
Saturday matchup is set for 2pm.
