Walk-Off: Williams Lifts Crusaders Over Trojans to Take Series

Tigerville, S.C. - North Greenville clinched its conference series against the Mount Olive Trojans this afternoon to take a sole-possession lead in the Conference Carolinas standings. NGU scored four runs in the 8th to win Game One 7-3. Game Two was tied going into the 7th, but Jared Williams connected for his first home run of the season in walk-off fashion to win 3-2. Ryan Brown led the Crusaders in hits for the day with four. Tucker Burgess won his tenth game of the season.

How it Happened

  • Mount Olive was first on the board with two runs in the 1st. Both runs scored off a home run by Drew Ellis.
  • Ryan Brown put NGU in the run column in the 2nd with his fifth home run of the season.
  • Ellis struck again with an RBI-double in the 3rd to give UMO a 3-1 lead.
  • The Crusaders scored two runs in the 6th to even up the score. John Jones brought in the first run with an RBI-groundout. Then Connor Grant hit an RBI-single to second base.
  • North Greenville took the lead and pulled away with four runs in the 8th. A wild pitch allowed Josh Black to score and give the Crusaders the lead. Three RBI-singles by Brown, Andrew Plunkett, and Jared Williams made the score what would end up the final score of 7-3.
