Tigerville, S.C. - The Crusaders completed their opening conference series with a sweep of the Emmanuel Lions. After winning Friday's game, NGU won both games in Saturday's doubleheader 4-3 and 12-7. Although John Jones' hitting streak came to an end in Game 1, Jones quickly got started on a new streak in Game 2 with two hits. Josh Black had a solid afternoon with four hits. 

Game 1

The Basics

• Score: NGU – 4 / Emmanuel – 3

How it Happened

• Emmanuel was first on the scoreboard with a run in the first by way of an RBI-single to left field by Hanon Price.
• The Lions then extended their lead to 3-0 in the top of the 2nd with an RBI groundout by Ty Tipton and a fielding error that resulted in a run.
• NGU responded with a run in the bottom of the 2nd. Jack Morris drove in the run with an RBI-single to center field to score Jeffrey Chandler.
• Pitching took over until the 7th inning. Connor Grant knocked in a run with a single through the right side to cut the deficit to one run. Eric Gilbert then grounded out to bring in the tying run. With a runner on third, Connor Grant hit a walk-off sacrifice fly to give NGU the win.

• Jack Morris had 2 hits in 3 at bats and 2 RBIs.
• Connor Grant went 2 for 4 with an RBI.
• Canaan Cropper earned his third win of the season, improving his record to 3-0.

How it Happened

• The Crusaders were first on the board with two runs in the 1st.
• Emmnanuel entered the score column in the top of the 3rd with a home run to left field.
• NGU responded with a run in the bottom of the inning.
• Both teams scored a run in the 4th.
• North Greenville broke the game open in the 5th. After an RBI-single by Josh Black, Sean Parsons hit his first home run of the 2018 season. Following a Jeffrey Chandler RBI-double, Alex Williams then hit his first home run of the season. The Crusaders went on to score two additional runs in the inning to take a 10-2 lead.
• The two teams scored one run in the 6th.
• After NGU scored a run in the 7th, Emmanuel scored the final run of the game in the 8th.

Inside the North Greenville Box Score

• Josh Black recorded 3 hits in 4 at bats out of the leadoff position. He went on to score three times.
• Ryan Brown went 3 for 4 and scored twice.
• John Jones started a new hitting streak with 2 hits in the game.
