Box Score Tigerville, S.C. – North Greenville took an early 2-1 lead on the 7th ranked Limestone Saints on Tuesday night but the advantage wouldn’t last long as the Saints stormed past NGU to earn a 21-5 win over the Crusaders.
Limestone struck first with a goal at the 29:37 mark of the first period but NGU quickly responded with goals from Rachel Kellogg and Monica Colwell to take an early 2-1 advantage. The one point advantage over Limestone is the first lead the Crusaders have held over the Saints since beginning play in 2015.
Limestone quickly corrected its path, scoring the next 19-goals to storm out to a 20-2 advantage. The Crusaders tacked on three more scores in the final minutes of the game including two from Hannah Hawkins and another from Jillian Cheisa.
The news was not all negative for the Crusaders who scored four more goals on the Saints, a perennial NCAA power, than they have in the previous two meetings, proving that NGU is an ever-improving program under head coach Briana Temples.
North Greenville fell to 9-9 overall and 4-4 in league play. The Crusaders will wrap up the regular season on April 22nd against Chowan University at 11am in North Carolina.
