Tigerville, S.C.—The North Greenville baseball team lost its second game in a row for the first time this season, after dropping a Tuesday decision to the Lander Bearcats 13-5.

Derek Fulmer took the mound for NGU Tuesday and looked solid, giving up 1 run, which was unearned. Fulmer pitched 4 innings striking out 5 while allowing just 1 hit.

The Bearcats scored their first run in the 3^rd inning. The run was unearned after two NGU field errors. Lander platted 5 more runs in the 6^th and 2 in the 7^th to take a commanding 8-0 lead.

NGU finally broke through in the bottom of the 8^th, scoring 5 runs on 4 hits. Allen Staton broke up the Lander shutout with an RBI single which scored Adam Taylor from third base. NGU would go on to score 2 more runs on wild pitches. NGU would score two more runs in the frame on a John Reinholz RBI single, and an RBI double from Taylor Hollifield.

The Crusaders trailed by just 3 heading into the 9^th inning, but Lander worked the bases loaded, and with two outs, smashed a grandslam over the left field fence. The Bearcats would go on to score 5 in the 9^th to take a 13-5 lead. The Crusaders failed to answer in their last at bat, and were retired in order.

The Crusaders fall to 10-5 after Tuesday’s game. NGU is 3-0 in Conference Carolinas play, with a three game series looming this weekend against Erskine. The Crusaders and Flying Fleet will open the three game set Friday at 2:30 pm.
