A retired logistics professional, but as a hobby, Bob volunteered to coach athletes in the javelin at NGU, Furman, Southern Wesleyan University and Clemson, plus mentored numerous individuals over the years.
His throwers include multiple PA state champions, nationally ranked US final’s competitors, Southern Conference champions, record holders and finalists, Conference Carolina conference champions and finalists and ACC conference finalists.  This is his first year as throws coach for North Greenville University. Â
As an athlete throwing the javelin, he was the Pennsylvania state champion and record holder, ranking 2nd in the nation as a senior. Competed for the University of Pittsburgh, setting a school record and twice finished 5th in the NCAA div 1 championship. After college continued to compete with a highest finish of 3rd at US nationals.  Later on, decided to compete in master’s age competition setting a US national age group record and ranking number one in the world for a couple of years.
