Former Erskine College standout Joe O’Neill was brought on as an Assistant Coach for NGU Men's Soccer in the 2019 season after spending a season as a Student Assistant Coach in 2016 with Erskine College.  As a coach with Erskine College, O’Neill helped lead the team to an improved 7-10-0 in the 2016 season after only winning four games in the 2015 season.  He is headed into his first season as an assistant coach for the Crusaders in 2019.

O’Neill will act as an Assistant Coach and lead player development for the reserve squad for the Crusaders. He has spent time coaching with two different youth clubs, GPS Costal Academy, and his current club, United FC, as a Head Trainer for four teams.  

During his collegiate days, O’Neill played in the midfield for Erskine College after playing at Junior College, Feather River College, in Quincy, CA where he was first team all-conference Freshman and Sophomore year before transferring to Erskine. O’Neill started at midfield all four years in college.  During his time at Erskine College O’Neill started in a combined 36 out of 39 games played. 

Prior to coaching at North Greenville University, O’Neill played semi-professionally for both Chasetown, and Walsall Wood in England.  O’Neill, who is from Lichfield, Staffordshire, England, earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Management.
