North Greenville University

Coach Bob is a retired logistics professional, but as a hobby     volunteered to coach javelin throwers over the years at Furman, Southern Wesleyan, Clemson and North Greenville University. He now also coaches the other throwing events since becoming the throws coach at NGU. 

 He started throwing the javelin in junior high school in addition to playing football, baseball and basketball. Turned down offers to play college football and baseball as he was the Pennsylvania javelin state champion, record holder and ranked 2nd nationally as a high school senior. Going to the University of Pittsburgh, he set the school record and twice placed 5th at the NCAA div 1 championship.

Post college he continued to compete and was a finalist at numerous USATF championships, with his best year placing 3rd and making US national team. Later on, started competing in masters’ competitions setting a US age group record and ranking number one in the world several years.
