Brian Volz comes to North Greenville in 2018 as the defensive line coach and will add the titles of Run Game Coordinator and Recruiting Coordinator to his list of responsibilities.

Volz came to NGU from Western Carolina University where he worked as a defensive assistant, working with the team's outside linebackers and defensive front. Before working with the Catamount LB's, Volz served as the defensive quality control assistant and was involved in film study, game breakdown, and managed the scout team while assisting in the press box on game days.

Before his time on the Western coaching staff, Volz worked at Greensboro College where he coached the defensive line and worked with the team's long snappers. He soon returned to WCU where he became a student assistant for the football team while he worked toward his second undergraduate degree from the school.

In his time at North Greenville Volz has produced two All-Conference selections in Seth Laughter and Chauncy Haney. Laughter was a first team All Gulf South Selection while Haney turned in a career season in 2019, finishing as a First Team All-GSC nod and the league's defensive player of the year. Haney was also First Team All-Region and an AP second team All-American and wrapped up his career as the only Division-II player in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl.

Adding to his coaching resume, Brian Volz tutored the offensive and defensive line units at Smokey Mountain High School and was an assistant for the school's wrestling squad, all while completing his duties at Western Carolina.

Brian Volz earned a pair of degrees from Western Carolina including a degree in Business Management in 2013 and a second degree in Marketing in 2015.
