TIGERVILLE, S.C. – North Greenville University will open the home portion of its 2026 football season under the lights on Friday night as the Trailblazers host the University of Charleston at Younts Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. as NGU welcomes the community for a special evening of remembrance, appreciation and celebration.
Friday night's game will serve as First Responders and Military Appreciation Night, recognizing the men and women who have dedicated their lives to serving their communities and protecting the nation. All current and retired first responders and military members will receive free admission to the game.
The evening will also provide an opportunity for the North Greenville community to pause and remember the victims of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks and honor the first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving others. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy, making the night an especially meaningful occasion to remember those who lost their lives and the courage displayed by so many Americans.
The day of remembrance will begin Friday morning when NGU hosts a 9/11 Stair Climb in Younts Stadium in honor of the first responders who lost their lives in the attacks. The event will give members of the NGU community an opportunity to come together, remember the fallen and pay tribute to the sacrifice made by the firefighters, law enforcement officers and other first responders who answered the call that day.
In addition, Friday night will celebrate a historic milestone for the nation as North Greenville joins Americans across the country in recognizing the 250th birthday of the United States.
Friday will be a day centered around service, sacrifice, freedom and unity. North Greenville invites the entire community to join the Trailblazers in honoring the heroes among us, remembering those who gave their lives on September 11 and celebrating 250 years of the United States of America.
