Tigerville, S.C. – Trailblazer fans….We made it! The 2026 football season is just hours away as North Greenville opens its 23
rd season as an NCAA affiliate against Catawba College Saturday evening in Salisbury, North Carolina.
Saturday will be the seventh meeting between the Trailblazers and Indians, a series which dates back to 2001 when NGU hosted Catawba in Taylors, South Carolina at Eastside High School. Catawba won the first meeting 59 – 0. NGU's only two wins in the series came in 2011 and 2012 in the form of 25 – 7 and 21 – 14 triumphs. Catawba has won the last three meetings including the last time out in 2017, a 26 – 20 loss for NGU in overtime.
While Saturday will be NGU's first time out in 2026 it is the second came for Catawba College which battled and earned a 13 – 7 win over Ferrum in a defensive battle last weekend. The Indians racked up 388 – yards of offense including 290 – yards through the air in the win over the Panthers of the Conference Carolinas.
