Tigerville — North Greenville University women's tennis opened the 2026-27 season on Friday morning, falling to Tusculum, 4-3, at the Vance Tennis Complex.
The Trailblazers picked up one victory in doubles play, as Abigail Watson and Erin Jacobs defeated Tusculum's M. Borges and Z. Mouttaki, 6-3. The Pioneers secured the doubles point with wins of 6 – 4 defeating Mikayla McKenzie and Adriana Flores, 6-3, at No. 1 doubles while Andjela Mrvaljevic and Mya Tease at No. 3 doubles lost 6 – 4.
North Greenville responded with three victories in singles competition.
At No. 1 singles, Watson defeated E. Kotmannova in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4. Flores also earned a straight-set victory at No. 3 singles, defeating Z. Mouttaki, 6-4, 6-4.
McKenzie provided NGU's third singles victory at No. 4, battling back after dropping the opening set to L. Douek, 6-2. McKenzie responded by taking the second set, 6-2, before closing out the match with another 6-2 win in the third set.
Tusculum secured the team victory with three additional singles wins. At No. 2 singles, G. Villa defeated Mrvaljevic, 6-3, 6-2. At No. 5 singles, C. Guasch defeated Jacobs, 6-2, 6-2, while M. Borges defeated Tease, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 6 singles.
