Gastonia, N.C. – The Trailblazers continue their march toward a Conference Championship on Saturday night with an 11 – 3 win over Francis Marion in the second elimination game of the day for both teams.
North Greenville wasted no time jumping ahead in Saturday's night cap, scoring a pair of runs in the first inning on a
Josh Foulks homer. The lead was extended to three runs in the second frame when
Kai Tullos scored on a sacrifice fly from
Darrien Whitaker. A run in each of the third and fourth innings from the Patriots made it interesting but the Trailblazers had a response.
That response was six runs in the home half of the fourth inning, extending the NGU lead to 9 – 2. The big knock of the inning came from
CJ Dean who hit his first grand slam of the season over the left field wall, NGU's second homer of the day.
Josh Foulks would triple in his next at bat and score in the frame to add more damage.
The biggest performance of the day came from NGU starter
Oliver Adams who held the Patriots in check until he was pulled after eight full innings. Adams allowed two runs on just five hits and struck out three batters.
Offensively,
Josh Foulks was 3 – 5 with two runs and two RBI with a triple.
Thomas Powell also had three hits.
CJ Dean finished 2 – 6 with two runs and four RBI.
Darrien Whitaker finished 2 – 3 with a run and two RBI.
