Hartsville, S.C. - North Greenville started fast and was able to hold off the Coker Cobras to earn an 11 - 7 win, the first of the season for North Greenville.
The game was 1 - 1 early on in the first quarter with
NGU's goal coming from
Kami Straub three - minutes in to the game. The Cobras evened it up shortly after but the Trailblazers countered with a run that spanned the rest of the first quarter and in to the second. North Greenville scored four unanswered goals powered by two from
Isabella Ortiz along with
Ava Walls and
Mary Regan to take a 5 – 1 lead.
Straub and Regan would score one more each in the second period to counter two goals from Coker as NGU led 7 – 3 at intermission. Straub added three more goals in the second half including two in the third and another in the fourth quarter.
Katy Smith also got in on the scoring action. Defensively NGU held the Cobras to just four goals in the second half. NGU's defense was led by
Krysten Wallace who led all players with four caused turnovers.
Sydney Spelman finished with nine saves in the net.
Straub led all players with five goals.
Mary Regan finished with two goals.
Caroline Rider had a pair of assists.
