Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Trailblazers extended their winning streak to nine with a sweep of the Lees-McRae Bobcats this afternoon at Jan McDonald Field. NGU's bats continued to stay hot, recording double-digit hits in both games with a total of twenty-seven. Game one saw NGU take an early lead and manage it to win 6-3.
Haylee Whitesides, who pitched 7.0 innings was the winning pitcher. Game two required extra innings as NGU led early on but Lees-McRae closed the deficit in the 6th. After a scoreless 7th, LMC would take the lead with two runs in the 8th. However, NGU would respond by scoring three runs in the bottom of the inning to end the afternoon with the win.
Karley Green pitched a complete game and earned the win.
Ansley Fowler put together an impressive afternoon, recording 6 hits including 2 triples as well as 4 runs and 3 RBIs.Â
Emily Blackwell finished with 5 hits in addition to 3 runs.
Haylee Whitesides pitched 7.0 innings, allowing 3 runs on 8 hits and 4 walks while striking out 7 batters.
North Greenville will face the Flying Fleet of Erskine College on Friday, March 20th in Due West, South Carolina.
