North Greenville Takes Game Three but Falls in Conference Series to Belmont Abbey

Tigerville, SC - North Greenville split a doubleheader with the Belmont Abbey Crusaders in games two and three of a weekend conference series with final scores of 6-2 in favor of BAC and 17-10 in favor of North Greenville this afternoon at Ray & Bea Dillard Field. Belmont Abbey took two of the three games in the series, but the Trailblazers were able to salvage the final game. The first game of the doubleheader went scoreless until the 5th inning when both teams plated two runs, with North Greenville's runs coming off a two-run home run by Mason Swinney. Tied at 2-2, the Crusaders reclaimed the lead in the 7th inning with four runs. Connor Brinson took the loss in 1.1 innings of relief. Game two got off to a rough start for NGU as Belmont Abbey pulled away early on with two runs in the 2nd inning and four runs in the 3rd. The Trailblazers would get on the board in the bottom of the inning, and after the Crusaders scored two more runs in the 4th, NGU not only tied the game but took the lead with a nine-run 4th inning including a three-run home run by Connor McKee. North Greenville pulled away further in the 5th inning with four additional runs including a two-RBI single by McKee. BAC scored a run in the 7th and a run in the 8th while NGU added to the lead with three runs in the 7th including a two-run double by Josh Foulks. Micah Takac pitched 2.0 solid innings in relief was the winning pitcher.

Cooper Noble went 5 for 6 at the plate for the day including a home run and two doubles. Connor McKee posted 3 hits including a home run and finished with 5 RBIs, 3 runs, and a walk. Micah Takac pitched 2.0 innings in relief, allowing no runs, just 1 hit, and a strikeout.

North Greenville will face the Bearcats of Lander University on Tuesday, March 17th in Greenwood, South Carolina.
