NGU Overcomes Early Deficit, Dominates Francis Marion to Clinch Series

The North Greenville Trailblazers clinched their weekend conference series against the 21st ranked Francis Marion Patriots this afternoon in Florence, South Carolina by running away with the game in the late innings to make the final score 29-11. North Greenville trailed 6-0 in the 1st inning as starter Brady Price was unable to record an out. However, NGU would recover by scoring two runs in the 2nd and five runs in the 3rd inning. Francis Marion would tie the game with a run in the 4th, and after the Trailblazers reclaimed the lead in the 5th, FMU would once again even things up with three runs of their own in the bottom of the inning. Starting with a two-run home run by Connor McKee, North Greenville would take over the game in the 6th inning with four runs and completely ended any doubt with a huge nine run 7th inning. The Patriots scored a run in the 7th, but that would become their final run of the game while NGU continued to build on their lead including three runs in the 8th including a home run by Thomas Powell and three runs in the 9th off a home run by Josh Foulks. Thayer Tavormina took the win with 1.2 innings pitched in relief.

Josh Foulks put together a dominant game, finishing 5 for 7 at the plate with a home run and 2 doubles. He recorded 8 RBIs along with 3 runs, a walk, and a stolen base. Skyler Hegler posted 3 hits, 5 runs, 2 RBIs and 2 walks. Thomas Powell posted 2 hits including a home run and a double in addition to 5 runs, 5 RBIs, and 2 walks.
