The North Greenville Trailblazers fell to the Trojans of Anderson University in the season opener of the 2026 season with a final score of 19-10 in Anderson, South Carolina. NGU started off the season on a strong note, scoring three goals in the 1st quarter while keeping the Trojans off the board. Anderson, however, would get things going in the 2nd quarter, scoring three of the next four goals to trail by just one. North Greenville would respond by scoring three of the final five goals of the half to go into halftime with a 7-5 lead. The Trojans started off the 2nd half with two goals to tie the game at 7-7. NGU would score their first goal of the half to reclaim the lead, but the Trojans would grab the lead for the first time with three consecutive goals to lead 11-9 with 12:55 remaining in the game. The Trailblazers scored the next goal to get back within one goal, but AU would go on to dominate the remainder of the game, scoring the final eight goals to pull away with a nine point victory. North Greenville led the match in saves 25-15 but trailed by a wide margin in total shots 67-35. Ground balls and face offs also belonged to Anderson, who led in ground balls 48-23 and face offs 24-9.
Caden Castle led NGU with 4 goals and also posted a ground ball.
Carson Fuchs posted 2 goals and 3 ground balls.
Matthew Desmond provided 25 saves and played a complete game at goalie.
NGU will return to action on Saturday, February 14th against the Falons of the University of Montevallo at Pepsi Stadium.
