Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Trailblazers completed a sweep of the Georgia Southwestern State Hurricanes with final scores of 22-14 and 18-5 at Ray & Bea Dillard Field. NGU put together a dominant day at the plate, combining for a total of thirty-six hits. NGU began things on a high note, scoring six runs in the 1st inning of game one including a three-run home run by
Skyler Hegler. North Greenville would add to their lead in the 3rd inning with four runs including a two-run home run by
Kai Tullos and a two-RBI double by
Thomas Powell.
CJ Dean would add to the lead with a two-run home run in the 5th as part of another four run inning. Down 14-0, GSW would put up a fight with an eight run 7th inning. After the Trailblazers responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning, the Hurricanes would put together another big inning in the 8th with six runs and even got the tying run to the plate. However, after North Greenville was able to get out of the inning without any additional damage, they would score six runs of their own including two two-RBI doubles by
Brayden Renfrow and
Cooper Noble.
Wyatt Evans would end things with a scoreless inning to seal the win.
Bennett Roemer pitched the opening 5.0 innings and received the win.
Game two also began on a high note for NGU with a four-run 1st inning including a three-run home run by
CJ Dean, and after a run by GSW NGU put together another four-run inning including a grand slam by Dean. After the Hurricanes put up a run in the 3rd inning, North Greenville would put together a third consecutive four-run inning, with Dean contributing to that with an RBI double. The Trailblazers would pull away further with a run in the 4th and yet another four-run inning in the 5th including a two-RBI double by
Jan Pospisil and an RBI double by
Josh Foulks. Georgia Southwester would score a run in the 6th and two in the 7th while North Greenville would score one last run by way of a home run by
Skyler Hegler in the 6th.
Matty Brown received the win.
CJ Dean put together an impressive day, finishing with 5 hits including 3 home runs and a double, 10 RBIs, and 5 runs scored.
