The North Greenville Trailblazers began their first road conference series with a 19-14 victory over the Flying Fleet of Erskine College in Due West, South Carolina. NGU ended any doubt early, scoring ten runs in the first two innings including two-run home runs by
CJ Dean and
Kai Tullos as well as a two-RBI double by
Jan Pospisil and an RBI double by
Skyler Hegler. NGU would pull away even further by scoring two runs in both the 3rd and 4th innings including a two-run home run by
Josh Foulks. Erskine was able to get on the board with two runs in the bottom of the 4th. After NGU responded with three runs in the top of the 5th by way of RBI doubles by
Lane McGaha and Hegler as well as a sacrifice fly. The Flying Fleet began to make things interesting, scoring four runs in both the 5th and 6th innings while the Trailblazers scored two more in the 6th including an RBI double by Darien Whitaker. A grand slam by Erskine in the 8th would cut the NGU lead to five, but a scoreless 9th secured the win for North Greenville.
Brady Price took the win on the mound.
Skyler Hegler put together a solid day, posting three hits with all of them doubles.
Josh Foulks recorded 3 hits including a home run and a double as well as 3 runs and 2 RBIs.
CJ Dean went 2 for 3 at the plate including a home run in addition to 3 RBIs, 2 runs scored, and a walk.
NGU and Erskine will conclude the weekend series tomorrow with a doubleheader.
