Newberry, S.C. – North Greenville scratched out a pair of non-conference wins on Friday with 3 – 2 and 5 – 2 decisions over Lee University.
The Trailblazers scratched across two runners in the third inning to take a 2 – 1 lead.
Karley Greenv stayed hot, delivering an RBI single that scored
Emily Blackwell.
Maddie Stone picked up an RbI with a sac fly in her next at bat, sending
Jordan Slocum home. The deciding run for NGU was an RBI by
Ansley Fowler.
The Flames would add a run in the top of the seventh but
Karley Green worked around any more trouble to earn her first win of the season in the circle. Stone was 1 – 2 with an RBI while green finished 1 – 3 with an RBI.
The Trailblazers scored early on in the second game as
Maddie Stone delivered once again with her second RBI of the game in the first inning.
Jordan Slocum and Karly Green picked up a pair of RBI in the second inning to take a lead over the Flames. NGU would score a single run in the third and sixth innings with run scoring hits from
Lexie Metcalf and Blackwell.
Owyen Lyall scored the game two win, improving her season record to 3 – 1 as a starter. Lyall struck out five in the process and allowed two runs on five hits.
Karley Green led NGU's offense with three hits in four appearances. She scored a run and had an RBI.
Maddie Stone and
Laci Jarrell were both 2 – 3.
