North Greenville Falls to Unbeaten Lees-McRae

The North Greenville Trailblazers were unable to find the back of the net in a 2-0 loss to the Bobcats of Lees-McRae College earlier this evening at Pepsi Stadium.

North Greenville fell to 3-7-2 overall and 3-3-2 in Conference Carolinas play, while Lees-McRae remained unbeaten at 10-0-2 overall and 6-0-2 in the conference.

Lees-McRae produced the first shot on goal of the match in the seventh minute, but North Greenville goalkeeper Cohen Brinkley turned away Conor O'Gorman's attempt. The Trailblazers answered with several opportunities of their own. Rodrigo Silva recorded NGU's first shot in the 13th minute before Kai Goodman forced Lees-McRae goalkeeper Jonathan Kienle into a save at 17:46. Jesse Zborovsky followed with an attempt in the 21st minute, while Tomas Cabrera added a shot in the 25th as North Greenville remained aggressive.

The match remained scoreless until the closing minutes of the opening half. Lees-McRae broke through at 40:02 when Adam Condron scored his first goal of the season off an assist from Andrea Marrazzo, giving the Bobcats a 1-0 lead going info halftime.

Opportunities became much harder to find for the Trailblazers after halftime. The Lees-McRae defense limited NGU to just one shot over the final 45 minutes and prevented North Greenville from putting an attempt on goal.

The Trailblazer defense kept the deficit at one for most of the second half before Lees-McRae added an insurance goal at 82:42. Marrazzo recorded his second assist of the match by setting up O'Gorman, who scored his fourth goal of the season to extend the Bobcats' advantage to 2-0.

Goodman led the North Greenville attack with two shots and accounted for the Trailblazers' lone shot on goal. Cabrera, Silva, Brennen Lamont, Jesse Zborovsky and Zac Zborovsky each recorded one attempt.

Brinkley started in goal for North Greenville and played the first 74:37, allowing one goal while making a save.

North Greenville will face the Bulldogs of Barton College on Saturday, October 10th in Wilson, North Carolina.
