Spartanburg – North Greenville improved to 3 – 2 – 2 in league play on Saturday with a 2 – 1 win over Converse University in divisional play.
Christabel Kirkham powered NGU to the win over the Valkyries scoring both of NGU's goals, her first multi-score game of her career. The freshman has now scored four goals on the year to lead the Trailblazers in the scoring column.
The Trailblazers (3-5-2, 3-2-2) took a 1-0 lead in the 34th minute when Kirkham found the back of the net. North Greenville carried the advantage into halftime after out-shooting Converse, 7-6, during the opening 45 minutes.
Converse (2-5-3, 2-4-2) pulled even in the 69th minute with a score leveling the match at 1-1.
With the game appearing headed toward a draw, Kirkham delivered the decisive moment in the 88th minute.
Finley Lloyd provided the assist on Kirkham's second goal of the afternoon, putting North Greenville back in front, 2-1.
The Trailblazers held on during the final minutes to secure the victory.
North Greenville finished with a 12-8 advantage in shots and a 5-4 edge in corner kicks.
Cadie Pendergrass made three saves in goal for the Trailblazers.
