Foulks Homers in Dominant Win Against Nationally-Ranked Central Missouri

The North Greenville Trailblazers improved to 2-0 against the #2 ranked Mules of the University of Central Missouri with a final score of 15-4 in Houston, Texas. North Greenville struggled to score early on, but struck it big in the 5th with eight runs and put the game on ice in the 8th with six more runs. Bennett Roemer took the mound for his first start of the season. NGU went scoreless in the first four innings while the Mules grabbed the lead on a wild pitch in the 3rd. However, North Greenville would come alive in the 5th inning as eight runs would come in to score including a two-run home run by Josh Foulks. Foulks would bat for a second time in the lineup, where he knocked in two more runs with a two-RBI single. Darrien Whitaker also brought in a run in the inning with an RBI single. UCM would respond with a run in the bottom of the inning, but the Trailblazers would get the run back in the 6th thanks to an error. Central Missouri scored two runs in the bottom of the 6th, and after a scoreless 7th, North Greenville would blow the game open in the 8th with six runs including a two-RBI ground-rule double by Lane McGaha. Ian Squires took the mound and pitched a scoreless inning to end game early due to the run rule. Thayer Tavormina was credited with the win, his first at the collegiate level.

Josh Foulks put together an impressive day with 2 hits including a home run, 4 RBIs, 2 runs, and a walk. CJ Dean posted 4 hits, 2 runs, 2 walks, and an RBI. Darrien Whitaker finished with 2 hits, 2 runs, an RBI, a walk, and a stolen base.

NGU will wrap up their Houston road trip tomorrow against the Tars of Rollins College in Houston.
