NGU Falls to Francis Marion in Conference Carolinas Tournament Championship

Duncan, SC - The North Greenville Trailblazers fell short in the championship games of the Conference Carolinas Tournament. Needing one victory heading into the championship, the Trailblazers battled the Patriots in a pitchers' duel that went scoreless in the first seven innings. Francis Marion would take a commanding lead by scoring five runs in the 8th inning. North Greenville would go three up, three down in the inning as FMU would secure the shutout victory. Kylie Rast pitched 7.0 strong innings, but was responsible for all five runs in the 8th and was charged with the loss. Defensively, the Trailblazers committed three errors, although none of them led to a run. Rast went on to start game two as well. NGU would take an early lead as Virginia Bishop and Ansley Fowler hit RBI singles to take a 2-0 lead in the top of the 1st. However, Francis Marion responded in the bottom of the 2nd with two runs of their own. They would take the lead with a run in the 3rd, then followed up with three more runs in the 4th. North Greenville would put up a fight with two hits in the 6th and another hit in the 7th, but NGU would ultimately come up empty as the Patriots would win the championship.
