Tigerville – North Greenville powered past Converse college on Tuesday afternoon, sweeping the Valkyries 5 – 1 and 8 – 1.
The runs in game one came midway through when North Greenville plated two in the fourth inning.
Lexie Metcalf tripled in a pair runs to give NGU the two run lead over the visiting Valkyries. A run in the sixth inning for Converse would make it 2 -1. North Greenville was able to tack on some insurance in the sixth inning.
Maddie Stone got things going with an RBI double and
Lexie Metcalf was credited her third RBI of the game with a sac-fly. The third run of the inning would come with some help as
Jordan Slocum would score on a converse throwing error.
One run in the first inning of game two would give the Valkyries their first and only lead of the day. Converse held North Greenville scoreless until sixth inning of the second game when the floodgates opened up. The Trailblazers scored eight runs four hits and used three more Converse errors to do the damage.
Maddie Stone added her second RBI double of the day, a run which would even the score at 1 – 1. The lead came later when
Emily Dawson's sacrifice bunt would lead to a throwing error and two runs. Dawson advance to third base on the errant throw.
Emily Blackwell added a second RBI double and Karly Green tacked on an RBI single as NGU put the game out of reach.
Kylie Rast earned both wins for North Greenville in the circle and improved to 9 – 2 on the season.
