Gideon Antle Perfect at the Plate as NGU Dominates Erskine to Begin Conference Series

Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Trailblazers put together a strong start to a three-game conference series against the Flying Fleet, dominating Erskine College with a score of 11-2 this afternoon at Ray & Bea Dillard Field. NGU pulled ahead early and maintained a shutout until the 8th inning. Brody Fowler took the mound for the start. A three-run 2nd inning began with an RBI double by Gideon Antle, his first of five hits throughout the day. Thomas Powell would follow that up with an RBI double of his own while Landon Shaw hit an RBI single in the inning. Alton Gyselman recorded an RBI with a sacrifice bunt for North Greenville's lone run in the 3rd inning. The 4th inning would see NGU pull ahead further with a two-RBI single by Gideon Antle, a two-RBI triple by Thomas Powell and a wild pitch that allowed Powell to later score. Gideon Antle would make more noise in the 6th inning with a solo home run to right field. The Flying Fleet would get on the board in the 8th inning with a two-RBI triple, but the Trailblazers would cap off the scoring in the 8th with an RBI single by Josh Williams. Evan Loeser pitched the final inning, allowing two runs but ultimately recording a scoreless inning to secure the win. Brody Fowler was the inning pitcher.

Gideon Antle put together a day to remember, going a perfect five for five at the plate including a home run and a double. He also recorded four RBIs and three runs scored. Thomas Powell finished just a home run shy of the cycle, finishing with three hits including a triple, a double, and a single while also providing three RBIs and two runs scored. Brody Fowler put together a solid start on the mound, pitching 6.0 innings allowing just three hits. He struck out ten and did not allow a single walk.

NGU and Erskine will face each other in a doubleheader tomorrow beginning at noon at Ray & Bea Dillard Field.
