Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Trailblazers split a doubleheader for the 7th time in the 2025 season, beginning with a 6-5 victory then ending with a 9-1 loss against the Bobcats of Georgia College & State University at Jan McDonald Field. Game one proved to be an exciting start to the day as the lead would change five times throughout the game. NGU took an early lead when
Karley Green hit an RBI single to right field. After a scoreless 2nd, the Bobcats claimed their first lead of the day with two runs in the inning. However, North Greenville responded in the bottom of the inning with two runs of their own when
Maddie Stone hit a home run to left field.
Emily Blackwell added to the lead in the 4th with a double to center field, putting the Trailblazers up by two. The lead would change once again as GCSU scored three runs in the 5th. In the bottom of the 6th, NGU would take over the lead once again with an RBI single by
Emily Blackwell and a bases-loaded walk by
Ansley Fowler.
Owyen Lyall would secure the win for North Greenville with a scoreless 7th inning. Lyall was the winning pitcher. Georgia College & State claimed an early lead to begin game two with three runs. NGU responded with a solo shot by
Ali Hartin in the bottom of the inning. However, that would go on to be North Greenville's only run of the game as GCSU would add to their lead with three more runs in the 2nd and three more in the 4th. Ultimately, the game would end in the 5th inning due to the run rule.
Karley Green took the loss.
Emily Blackwell finished the day with three hits including a double and provided two RBIs and a run scored.
Maddie Stone posted two hits including a home run as well as two RBIs, two walks, and a run scored.
Ali Hartin also recorded two hits including a home run in addition to two runs scored and an RBI.
North Greenville will face the Warriors of Southern Wesleyan University on Friday, March 28th in Central, South Carolina.
